Adorned with accents of Rome, Tuscany, Venice and Milan, the 2013 Nellie Leadership Awards Gala invited guests to experience Italy’s cuisine and culture, while celebrating a pillar of Italian life, the family.
The Nellie Leadership Award honorees each received a framed hand crafted tapestry created by artist Saihou O. Njie. And three transitioning Three Rivers Youth clients were awarded scholarships from Duquesne Light and the Charles L. and Nancy Adreon Scholarship Fund.

The program featured a moving testimonial from Jade Carter, who shared her own contrasting experiences as an abused child, and later, as a nurtured Three Rivers Youth client. Currently enlisted in the US Army, Private 1st Class Jade Carter has successfully transitioned into a self-sufficient adulthood and is thriving.

Dancing under the Italian Stars, competitive performances featuring Pittsburgh Soul Steppers, Marlon Silva, and, the winners, Urban Ballroom Dancers, added a festive opportunity to raise funds for a very worthy cause.
